Scarborough Bluffs
Scarborough Bluffs is located in the southern shoreline of Scarborough in the City of Toronto. It has many excellent lookouts of Lake Ontario and the bluffs escarpment, which can be accessed from the lower shoreline and or the top of the bluffs. It is a spectacular place for nature, landscape and birding photographers year-round. To have these many photographic opportunities in the middle of Canada’s largest city is a blessing.
Scarborough Bluffs consists of 11 parks that have their character and identity. One park, “The Bluffer’s Park”, is where the iconic photo of the bluffs escarpment is located and recognized worldwide. It is a natural wonder in the middle of the city. “East Point Park” has an abundance of wildlife and birds year-round. This park is a designated wildlife-protected area because of the diversity of bird species here and a regular stop for the monarch butterfly. If you are into birding, this is one of the places to visit. “Rosetta McClain Gardens”, famous for its manicured gardens, is much more; it is also, where raptor birding aficionados go to shoot migrating birds. As a note, this park hosts the Rosetta McLean Raptors Watch every year. I have spotted hawks and bald eagles here in the past. It was exciting. If you Google Scarborough Bluffs, you might be surprised to find out what you might be missing.
